BERMAGUI

Doorway To The Continential Shelf

Internationally known as a great game fishing port and with the continential shelf laying closest to it than any other coastline, Bermagui has established itself as the mega port for fishing grounds. Within easy reach ( it is 90kms from Merimbula) and with the help of warm currents form the north, the reefs are alive with sea life and every fishermans dream can come alive. You'll find commerical and recreational fishing at the habour with a fishing fleet making its home here. Facilities at the habour include parking for trailers, weigh in gantry, boat ramps and fish cleaning tables

If the high seas and catching a marlin isn't your thing and you prefer your feet firmly on the ground but like to toss a rod, try Camel Rock, Cuttage Beach, Haywards Beach or Moerheads Beach for tailor, salmon or flathead. Rockfishing can be found at the ever popular Bermagui Headlands or Wallaga Lake mouth. Bermagui River and Wallaga Lake offer estuary fishing

For the family, Horseshoe Beach is ideal for the children, visit the Blue Pool for a swimming experience which is full of saltwater controlled by the tidals. Days trips can include Wallaga Lake and Mount Dromedary for the serious walkers who would like spectacular views of the coastline from the summit. Day trips by boat can be made to Montague Island from Bermagui which is worth experiencing.

There is a golf course, bowling greens, all weather tennis and squash courts available all year round.  You'll find picnic areas at locations such as Bermagui River Park, Cuttagee Lake, Michael Lerner Lookout and Camel Rock.
